There was chaos in the Maldivian parliament during a crucial vote on the parliamentary confirmation of the Mohamed Muizzu cabinet. Members dressed in suits and ties were seen jostling, pushing, kicking, and punching each other on the parliament floor. One video, circulating on the internet, showed an MP holding onto the leg of another MP, causing both of them to fall to the ground. In another clip, an MP was seen blowing a horn into the speaker’s ear as he tried to block out the noise. The fighting involved Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) MP Isa and ruling Progressive National Party (PNC) MP Abdullah Shaheem Abdul Hakeem. Members of the ruling party reportedly blocked the House and interfered with the proceedings.
